Rooted in the Earth. Grown with Purpose.
At Forgotten Foods, every grain, millet, and ancient crop we bring to your table is grown the way nature intended — without chemicals, without shortcuts, and with deep respect for the land.
Our Farm: Prakruti Farms
We are a family-owned business based in Bangalore, and at the heart of everything we do is Prakruti Farms — our regenerative organic farm and food forest. "Prakruti" means nature in Sanskrit, and that name guides every decision we make on the farm.
At Prakruti Farms, we practice regenerative organic farming — an approach that goes beyond simply avoiding chemicals. We actively work to restore soil health, increase biodiversity, conserve water, and build a thriving ecosystem that sustains itself naturally.
What is Regenerative Farming?
Regenerative farming is a philosophy of giving back to the earth more than we take. It includes:
- No synthetic chemicals or pesticides — ever. Our crops grow in harmony with nature.
- Composting and natural soil enrichment — we feed the soil so the soil feeds the plant.
- Crop diversity and food forests — growing many varieties together mimics natural ecosystems and builds resilience.
- Water conservation — traditional and modern techniques to use water wisely.
- Seed saving — preserving heirloom and ancient varieties that have been lost to industrial agriculture.
Why Forgotten Foods?
India's culinary heritage is rich with grains, millets, and foods that nourished generations — but were sidelined by the Green Revolution. We are on a mission to bring these forgotten foods back to Indian kitchens, not just for their incredible nutrition, but because growing them the traditional way is better for the planet.
Ancient grains like millets are naturally drought-resistant, require far less water than rice or wheat, and thrive without chemical inputs. Choosing them is a vote for a more sustainable food system.
Recognised for Our Work
We are proud to be recognised by Startup India and Startup Karnataka as an innovative agri-food business working towards a healthier, more sustainable India.
